Christmas mani extravaganza!

0

My Current mani: Essie's Limited Addiction, the holly is Color Club Rule Breaker and the gems are just little rhinestones from eBay. Simple but cute. One of the girls I work with said this is a "very grown up colour" compared to what I usually wear. That comment made me giggle!

Now THIS screams Christmas!

Isn't it beautiful?

This is China Glaze's Ruby Pumps and Wet N' Wild Prancer.

Slightly less Christmasy but it fits

0

So this isn't a super Christmas-y NOTD but it's my blog, dammit! Kidding! This one is the beautiful Original Holographic version of OPI's My Private Jet, SO amazing. Accent finger is Nicole by OPI Sprinkle of Twinkle (I always calls this polish Sprinkle of Tinkle... just me?) This is a quickie manicure that I wore for a Ozzy Osbourne concert :)

Sorry the pic isn't the greatest!

Snowy nails with Frosty

0

This is two coats of China Glaze Frosty over 2 coats of China Glaze Snow. I never really cared for white polishes but these got such great reviews that I hunted them down (ended up having to order from head2toe). I must say though that I am so glad I did! They're both lovely polishes and will be making an appearace again before Christmas, I'm sure!

The second picture shows off the shimmer best!

Day 4: A revisit!

0

I didn't have time to do a whole new manicure today, so I simply added more snowflakes to the manicure I had on:

I added Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear glitter in Disco Ball. Looks like falling snow!

Three French Hens

0

While this manicure is beautiful, unfortutely I did not manage to get a great picture of it. This got a lot of compliments though and it was truly lovely!

I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Indigo as the base coat and the snowflakes were done using Nicole by OPI Positive Energy (I use this a lot for stamping, it's fantastic) and Konad White. Give it a try!

Two turtle doves...

This is China Glaze's Mrs. Claus over Essie's Limited Addiction. This looked amazing!

Nothing like Ruby Pumps for sure. It is what I wanted Mrs. Claus to be.

On the first day of Christmas....

0

The malls are busy, the stores have their Christmas Garb out full-fledged and of course the cosmetic brands have their Christmas collections out! Here is the first of MANY holiday manicures!

Here is the first that I wore, the beautiful China Glaze Emerald Sparkle.

And then just for fun I decided to try it with various top coats (this was just before I removed my mani:

Thumb - Pinky: China Glaze Party Hearty, WnW Prancer, WnW Comet, China Glaze Golden Enchantment and SH Urban Chic.

Harry Potter Manicure!

0

In celebration of the release of HP7, I went with a Harry Potter themed manicure. I don't free hand designs often so these are a little rough. Index to pinky are Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Slytherin and Ravenclaw. My thumb is a Golden Snitch.

Thumb: Joe Fresh - Powder Blue, clouds and snitch wings are SH Insta-Dry in Whirlwind White and the golden snitch itself is SH CSM in Gilty Pleasure.
Index Finger: Base colour is a mixture of Essie Vermillionaire and Essie Hello Yellow. The black is WnW in Black Creme.
Middle Finger: Red is OPI A Ruby For Rudolph and the gold is SH CSM in Gilty Pleasure
Ring Finger: Green is OPI Here Today Aragon Tomorrow Suede with TC and the silver is Nicole by OPI in Positive Energy
Pinky: China Glaze Frostbite with Nicole by OPI in Positive Energy.

I promise promise to update more! I have lots of Christmas manis coming up!

Nail Spam because I suck!

0

It's almost been a month since my last post - so I officially suck! Here is some nail spam to make up for it!

Rainbow Holo Leopard - using China Glaze's L8R G8R, 2NITE, IDK and QT, stamped with Konad m57 and the special polish

GOSH Wild Lilac, stamped with Nicole By OPI Silver (name escapes me at the moment!) and China Glaze Bogie. Stamped using some of the Bundle Monster plates (will update with names later)

Orly Space Cadet. LOVE this polish! I also wore (and forgot to photograph) Galaxy Girl with China Glaze DV8 stamped on it. Looked great!

NOTD is Essie Sew Psyched.

Hard Candy Haul

0

Hard Candy has finally landed at Walmart in Canada!
I picked up a few things and am generally impressed with the Quality!

Walk The Line liquid liner in Licorice which is a black base with multi colour glitter. This looks amazing but it takes a really long time to dry. If you have the patience to make it work though, great find. The black base is not opaque but is great layered over another liquid or gel liner.

Not Hard Candy but, L`Òreal Touche Magique concealer pen in Rose Porcelain Really like this. It's a twist up concealer pen that's great for under eye circles. Definitely check this out next time you're at the drugstore!

Hard Candy Blush in Living Doll . This blush is not that unique but it is pretty. It's not as bright as in looks in the pan and wears as a light baby pink on myself. It leans a little cool. I would say this is a great cheaper option to the MAC Mineralized Blushes. I also quite like the packaging. Also, this blush is just shimmery - no glitter here!

Meteor-eyes Baked Eye Shadow in Lunar Eclipse This is a very pretty blackened gold colour. Very pigmented dry, haven't tried it foiled yet but I imagine it would just make it more intense! Similar to the MAC Style Black MES in Gilt By Association. This one is a little bit more of a Glitter bomb though!

Nobody's Perfect Concealer Palette. This is okay, not stellar but not terrible. I have used the green shade to conceal some redness. I don't find any of the skin tones match my skin terrible well (I got the palette in fair and I am NC20 in MAC Foundations). Not a bad buy for the price though!

That's it for my first haul from Hard Candy, I am looking forward to picking up a few more products in the future. I am interested in the tinted moisturizers, I have heard good things about them so I will probably pick one up soon!

Nail Haul and a NOTD :)

0

I've been slacking lately, sorry for the lack of posts!
I received this haul of beauties the other day from a blog sale!

Left to right: China Glaze DV8, OPI DS Sapphire, OPI DS Signature, China Glaze How About A Tumble and Nubar Reclaim
Yep. More holos. Can't help it, they're just so gorgeous!
I used Reclaim right away and did a mani using it on my fingers and China Glaze's L8R G8R on my thumbs, stamping the frogs using a Coraline plate with the Reclaim polish. Love these colours!

I purchased these form a lovely lady named Annie from a sale on her blog. Check her out at Nailstah. She does daily posts of nail polish swatches and reviews!

Leopard Holo NOTD

0

Here is my latest Konading adventure, also involving a China Glaze holo from the OMG collection - LOL (dark purple holographic polish - it's sooo pretty!!) and plate M57 again with the black special polish.

I love the look of this mani but I find a lot of the holos lose much of their holo-ness with topcoats, so next time I am going to try only using one on top of the konad design (I usually paint one coat over the base polish). I also tried out a treatment called Repair by the same brand that makes Seche Vite and I think it might have contributed to some of the problems I had. Ah well, it's a work in progress!!

And Look! It matches my phone case!

Bejazzled office supplies FTW!

0

So I got this for free at my Sallys with the purchase of two hair products (stocked up on dry shampoo). No one in the clinic will be able to mistake my calculator! LOVE IT!

Holo zebra!

0

Here is attempt #2 with the Konad. Using China Glaze's OMG and Konad black special polish and plate M57 again (This is my favorite plate, I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of use out of it and I highly recommend it!) This picture is taken after 3 days wear and fussing so there are quite a few chips but I am obsessed with this combo. The China Glaze Holos are amazing -- I was able to get a few on a whim. A very sweet selling on the MAC livejournal community had one listed - QT. I said I was interested, but she was selling it for $5 and wanted a min sale of $10, so I asked if she would sell it alone or if she had any others she would sell - to my surprise she said she would sell me OMG (silver holo - very htf), QT (dark pink holo), 2NITE (light blue holo) and LOL (dark purple holo and my next mani). I didn't hesitate for a second! I've also ordered 5 more from another LJ sale - I will record a nail haul when I receive these.
Still looking for BFF and DV8 if anyone is willing to sell those!!
Here are pics of OMG on my fingers and QT on my toes (with stars done using Konad M03 and special white polish)

First Konadicure

0

So in short, my first attempt at Konad was an epic fail. Partly due to my impatience, partly due to the fact that it is not as easy as it looks!
I initially attempted to do a lime green with black zebra. I was using Finger Paints' 'Guggen I'm Lime', Konad Black Special Polish and Plate M57. First of all, the Lime base was quite thin and required SEVERAL coats. I wasn't patient enough and when I went to stamp, the whole nail base basically slid right off. So I decided to try a different green, using OPI's Who The Shrek Are You? Again, not patient enough.

So I took a break and baked some yummy rainbow cupcakes for my boss' birthday. Then it
was back to my nails while watching Teen Mom (so addicted to this show!!)

This was the result, using China Glaze's For Audrey, Konad white Special Polish, plate M57 (this time the fishnet pattern). I then added some flowers from another plate and a cat from one of the Coraline plates.

The big problem was that in my frustration, I was too lazy to really clean the edges, so there is still some green residue around the nails. It takes some practice, that's for sure! Going to try to do Zebra again tonight, this time over China Glaze's OMG (just got it in the mail! Will be recording a nail polish haul video in the next few days, just waiting for one more package to arrive!)

I do really like the cat though :)
Photobucket
This picture really shows how much of a mess my nails are! Stay tuned for Day #2!

NOTD: August 8th 2010

Here is my NOTD (or for a few days, I'm not motivated enough to change it everyday!)
OPI's Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow

LOVE this colour! Looks gorgeous with a clear topcoat too! It's just too bad that the Suede finishes don't last as long as normal polishes!

New me, new blog

0

Hi everyone! This is (obviously) my first entry in the new blog. I have decided I want to change my online persona.

In case you don't know who I am, I typically post things under the user name macpixie55. My reasoning for changing it is that I don't want to be a walking label for a company. I don't even buy clothes that slap the brand name across the front as I think it's typically tacky. Also, I feel I have outgrown that personality and I want to sort of re-invent myself. I have finished my bachelor's degree, I'm back living at home and figuring out what I want to do and who I want to be. It's time for changes and this is the first step in that direction.

I'd love to hear people's comments and have some interaction with the other peeps on the interwebs. Please comment here, follow me on twitter (still macpixie55, will update if I chose to change that), my user name on Specktra is MACPixie, macpixie55 on livejournal etc etc. Good old fashioned email works too - shoot me a message at missashleymalice@gmail.com
