Kleancolor Metallics.

0

I fell in love with a manicure I saw on Pinterest and just had to replicate it! The pink didn't show up great in the photos but the tips of the nail are actually hot pink.
I was totally impressed by the Kleancolor Metallics (I picked up a set of 6 minis at Winners for $5.99).
LOVED this manicure!
I used Metallic Jungle, Metallic Purple and Metallic Pink and created a gradient using a regular makeup sponge.
Above is my veersion, below is my inspiration, which was from Dolly (http://adayinthelifeofdollface.blogspot.ca/) who is also the creator of Dollish Polish.

See wayyyy more pictures of this mani below the cut!

A-England Tristam

0

Another beauty from A-England. This is Tristam, from The Mysticals collection.
I've only used two of my A-Englands so far but I can honestly say that the formula on these blow me away each time. This is two coats but with careful application it could easily be a one coater.
I love the subtle holographic effect on these, sometimes I even prefer it to the in-your-face holo of the Laylas!

A-Englands are available directly from their website, from ninjapolish.com or llarowe.com

Jessica Born 2 Pansy

0

This was my first experience with Jessica polishes and, I dare say, it will not be my last!
Photos of this polish do not do it justice at all. It is a gorgeous shade of lilac with this insane shimmer, which shifts blue-purple-copper-fucshia and it is gorgeous! I had no idea that it was a shifting pigment until I got it on my fingers. Loved this shade and got a ton of compliments on it!
This is a current shade from the collection with the Chanel dupes.
This is three coats, application was great, formula is sorta thin but I find that is fairly normal with polishes this lightly coloured.

Sorry about the tip wear in these photos, these were taken after 2 days of wear because my camera died and it is very fickle as to which outlet it will charge in (I think it's possessed!)

Happy weekend everyone! Be safe and have fun!

I'm a goddamn tiger.... with Color Club Magnetics in Cop An Attitude

0

So this manicure was my attempt to dupe a mani done by Lacquerish on her blog that I absolutely loved! I had to use slightly different polishes as I don't have the ones she used but I think it turned out alright.
I first applied a coat of Claire's Magnetix in Gold which was horrible, the formula was thick and gloopy and the brush was horrible. I added a coat of Color Club Magnetics in Cop an Attitude on top and used the magnet sideways (for vertical waves).
I used Konad plate m57 for the stripes (would LOVE to have the Essence plate Lacquerish used, the stripes are much finer and I think look a lot better). I believe I used Wet N Wild Black Cream for the stamping.

Thanks for looking! Please leave any comments or questions below :)
Hope you guys are having a great week!

Finger Paints Circus Peanuts

0

This polish is so not my usual style. That being said, I love love loved this!
This is 2 coats (this picture was taken after a day of wear)
I also don't really do a lot of cream finishes either as I find they show every imperfection.
The formula on this was great, seems like Finger Paints is really stepping up their game lately!

Claire's Candy Shop

0

Here's a fun one for you today!
This is Claire's Candy Shop, which is a dupe of a Deborah Lippmann polish by the same name.
This is three coats, topped with a coat of Gelous and a coat of Seche Vite to smooth it all out.

Max Factor Fantasy Fire over Zoya Pinta

0

I had to take out Fantasy Fire again and this time I am much more impressed with it. Over the darker base I could see the blue-green flash whereas I couldn't see it when I wore it over Baker St.
This is 2 coats of Zoya Pinta (dupe of OPI Sapphire in The Snow), 1 coat of Max Factor Fantasy Fire and Seche Vite.

Layla Ocean Rush

0

Here is another one of the ahmazzzzing Layla holographic polishes.
Seriously. And the rumor is that there is a new collection of them coming out with 8 new colours! Whee!
Also for Canadians - Harlow & Co carries these now with free shipping over $50. They're $16 there (compared to $15.50 at aveyou.com).

This is two coats over Nfu-Oh Aqua Base with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta Dri Clear as topcoat (triangular bottle - try it! Doesn't dull the holo at all!)
See more pictures below the cut!

Dollish Polish Expecto Patronum

0

Lynnderella has created a phenomenon within the nail polish world - insanely popular Indie Frankens. I've hopped on board and have ordered from one indie seller (so far!)
This is the beautiful Expecto Patronum by Dollish Polish and can be purchased in her Etsy shop when she re-opens!

This is two coats, no undies. Needed a thick coat of top coat. Wore really well.
If you click the picture to make it larger you can see the little flakies in it too!

This is my mini haul. I loved Expecto from pictures but wasn't sure how I would find her polishes, so I only ordered one full size ($8) and three minis ($4)
From left to right: Team Salvatore, The Final Frontier, Cold Winds Are Rising and Expecto Patronum.
Here are some swatches on a clear nail wheel, reverse order than before. (Note Cold Winds Are Rising looks MUCH better with a thicker topcoat. After this picture was taken I used a coat of Lynnderella's Glitter Tamer and it looks amazing!)

Nails Inc Baker St with Max Factor Fantasy Fire

0

I loved loved loved this manicure! The Nails Inc is BEAUTIFUL! Totally unique in my collection and definitely worth grabbing if you can still find it.
Max Factor Fantasy Fire is the UK brand "dupe" of Clarins 230.
While it is similar I definitely don't think it's a dupe. The shimmer is much finer and I don't find it has as significant of a colour shift as Clarins. I didn't see much of the blue or green colour like I do with the Clarins (although it is very evident in the bottle). However I must say I have worn it again since this manicure and over a darker colour all the colours were more apparent.

This is two coats of Baker St. and one coat of Fantasy Fire.
Application on both were fantastic, my only complaint is that the brush of FF is tiny, but it is to be expected in a 4ml bottle of polish.

OPI Gal Meets Gal-veston

0

This is one of the jellies from OPI's Texas collection that came out last summer.  I just recently picked this up because I love the colour but I'm just not crazy about the jelly finish.
Found this manicure a tad boring, so I added an accent nail of OPI's Rainbow Connection from the holiday Muppets line.

Layla Mercury Twilight

0

Holos are amazing. Period. End. Of. Story.
This one is extra awesome. Seriously.

This is two coats of Layla over a good coat of Nfu Oh Aqua Base.
This is one of the stubborn holos that really needs Aqua Base to be smooth. Aqua Base is totally worth having in your arsenal. However, it must be applied and given a good amount of time to dry (a lot of people say 30 min, I usually wait about 15min) in order for it to be smooth and not drag.
I purchased these off Aveyou.com, they retail at $15.50 but the shipping to Canada was pricy and I had to pay about $18 in duty fees when I picked up my package. I ordered 5 of these so expect more to come as the sunnier weather rolls around!

More pictures after the cut!

The lovely Clarins 230 Over Revlon Royal

0

This is the lovely Clarins 230. This has to be one of the most infamous polishes in the blogging world. It has a colour shifting pigment in it that allows the colour to shift from purple, to red, gold, green, blue and everywhere in between depending on the light. There have been new polishes released recently that are "dupes" of this polish, particularly Max Factor Fantasy Fire (UK only) and Girly Bits Shift Happens (indie polish). I don't have the Girly Bits but I do have Fantasy Fire, and while similar and still very pretty, the colour shift is not as strong and tends to stay more in the pinky-purple shift.
This here is the real deal.
This is 2 coats of Revlon Royal (a must have if you don't already own it!) followed by one coat of Clarins 230.
Look for more pictures after the cut!

China Glaze Emerald Sparkle

0

This is the beautiful China Glaze Emerald Sparkle which is from a few holiday collections back. It is the green relative of ChG Ruby Pumps and is one of my favorite polishes that China Glaze has ever released.

This is 2 coats of Emerald Sparkle and stamped with GOSH Metallic Green, one of my favorite polishes for stamping!

This is what I wore for St. Patty's day, so this ends the green posts! Check back tomorrow for a very special polish!

Misa's Like It Like That

0

Misa is a brand that I've only tried a few times. So far I have been pleasently surprised with each polish I've tried.
This was no exception! Covered well in 2 coats, almost has a duochrome finish (not as obviously IRL as what shows up in the pictures), but it is a bit streaky (like I said in my post about ChG Agro, seems to be the nature of the finish)

China Glaze Glittering Garland & Sinful Colours Green Ocean

0

This green is beautiful! Applies perfectly in 2 coats and did not stain my nails! Then I decided to add a coat of SC Green Ocean flakies which showed up a bit too blue for my liking, but oh well.
I'm a bit behind in blog posts, the next few posts will be the manicures I wore leading up to St. Patricks Day.

China Glaze Foie Gras

0

This is the last of The Hunger Games Polishes that I have that I have worn (have another one or two untried).
This is Foie Gras, a lovely purpley-grey cream. It applied like a dream, perfect in 2 coats.
I'm a big fan of colours in this vein, such as Revlon Perplex, China Glaze Below Deck, etc. They are edgy but neutral. If you don't have anything like that in your collection, you need one, or twenty!

China Glaze Agro

0

Here is another polish from the China Glaze Hunger Games Collection. This is Agro, a lovely metallic olive green. It is similar in colour to China Glaze Peace On Earth which came out in the 2010 holiday collection. Please excuse the tip wear in these photos!

Shown is 2 coats of polish. This applied very well but due to the nature of the finish, did look a tad streaky. Lovely none the less!

My Hunger Games Manicure: China Glaze Electrify

0

This was the most interesting of the Hunger Games Polishes to me, which is why I chose it to wear for when I went to see the movie (yes, I'm a dork like that)!

Under the low lights of the theatre, this polish GLOWED like embers. SO pretty!

This was three coats of glitter, 2 coats of Gelous and one coat of Seche Vite

I have some thought on the movie and more pictures of this manicure, but I will hide them behind the cut as there will be some spoilers!

China Glaze Riviting!

0

Let me just say WOW while we drool at these pictures for a minute...

This polish MORE than made up for my disappointment with Smoke and Ashes. I never ever wear orange nail polish but this just jumped into my top 20, dare I say maybe even my top 10!
Middle two pictures are most colour accurate.
Perfect in two coats.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this polish!
